17 contestants braved the wind and rain at the start of our Icebreaker at Meon Springs. Within an hour various incantations led to the rain stopping and the weather brightening for the remainder of the event. Stu Ellins provided a welcome de-icer in the form of a shot of strong rum (or was it anti-freeze). Fish came readily to offerings in Whitewool Lake but the catch and release was another matter with plenty of fish to be seen but few caught. I managed top score on the day with the help of 3 from the Catch & Release to augment 2 stockies. Bob Jones had the largest fish at 3lb 9oz. Detailed results are in the table above. Black and bright green were the colours of the day, so anything biased on a Montana received plenty of attention especially if it also contained a bit of fritz. Bloodworm imitations also produced results. Prices have risen for this season up to £30 for a 2 fish ticket which, due to increased cost of fuel and feed pushing up the price of fish, is not surprising. The next event is the Spring Cup match at Moorhen Farm, when you will need your 2012 - 2013 EA Road Licence. EMP | ||||||
