Event
The Inter-Command Coarse Angling Rounds 3 and 4 will be competed on Wed 14 and Thu 15 Sep 11 at Maver Larford Lakes. This is a change of dates and venue to that originally promulgated for 2 reasons: the Coarse Committee decided that all events will be in the centre of the country to share the travel burden; and, to enable coaching on 12 and 13 Sep. The Match Lake will be used on Mon & Wed, and the Specimen Lake on Tue & Thu. Parking is freely available at the venue and there is also a café. Maver Larford have a comprehensive website for further information
Eligibility. All Service Personnel and all members of the RN&RM AA are eligible to fish this event.
There is no limitation on numbers, however normal rules apply to those in the Command Teams: each team is to consist of no more than 6 anglers of which no more than 2 can be Associates, and only 1 Associate's points can count. A Command must select any available Service angler for the team before using Associates. If numbers exceed 30 overall a sixth team (and so on) will be formed to enable the draw. The additional team's results will be disregarded for the purpose of the Command Scores but will count for any Pools entered. RN&RM AA members can fish this event either by booking in through a Team Captain or directly with the RN&RM AA Coarse Sec (currently me) by 24 Aug 11.
Selection for Command Sides
The Naval Sports Handbook makes clear the selection rules for Command Sides. In short:
- Royal Marines - All RM personnel, and RN personnel (except FAA) appointed to RM units. If not selected for the RM side then their next call up is the geographical area in which they are serving
- Fleet - Compete for geographical area in which they serve.
- FAA - All FAA personnel, and RN personnel (except RM) appointed to FAA units. If not selected for the FAA side then their next call up is the geographical area in which they are serving
- Portsmouth, Plymouth and Scotland - Compete for geographical area in which they serve. Plymouth and Scotland are permitted to field a combined team if they cannot raise their own
Anyone not selected for their parent side (of 6) by the deadline (24 Aug) can be called upon by any other Command noting geographical Commands have first call on RM & FAA personnel in their area.
Team Captains
All Team Captains are requested to provide details of their anglers to the RN&RM AA Coarse Sec by 24 Aug 11 using the form above. This is a requirement to secure the accommodation and finalise details with the venue and coach. Where numbers exceed 6 from any one Command the Captain is to make clear which 6 have been selected for the matches.

Travel Arrangements & Duty Status
Travel can be arranged in liaison with respective Command AROs. Duty travel claims, via JPA, are NOT authorised, although Service Anglers are considered to be on duty for the event. Individual Team Captains are to raise signals authorising their team's attendance to establish duty status (required for welfare, insurance etc), formats are available from the Coarse Sec if required.

After approximately half a mile, take the left hand turning, signposted Larford. Follow the country lane for about 1 mile; Larford Lakes and River complex is directly at the end of the lane to your left.
Scoring & Command Trophy
For the Command Trophy the top five results out of the team of six is to count noting the Associate rules as above. The Command with the highest overall score in each match will be awarded 5pts, runner up 4 pts etc. The Command match results for all 4 matches will then be aggregated to establish the winning Command; if points tie then match wins followed, if necessary, by section wins will decide the result. If still undecided then second places, and so on will be used in turn.
Other Trophies
The Command Champion individual trophy shall be awarded to the highest scoring angler over the 4 Inter-Command League matches. The Matchman of the Year Trophy will also be awarded which combines the Inter Command and Championships results.
Rules
The match will broadly conform to the Angling Trust Model Match Rules as adapted and shown at Annex B, and will be briefed at the draw. Local fishery rules also apply, these are shown in the Annex but are liable to change at the Fishery owner's discretion.
Pools
Pools are optional and are set at £10 per day. The money is roughly split between section and match results, and for the latter only further split between Novice/Intermediate and Advanced Anglers (as declared by Team Captains when entering the competition). Advanced anglers are generally those currently or previously regularly competing for the RN Angling squad. For those wishing to enter all monies are to be with the match officials before the draw commences.
This is to be collected by the Team Captains and handed to the 2i/c (to be nominated). If the Command teams are unbalanced the Pools sections may not be the same as those deciding the Command Results. This will be decided and declared before the draw and is designed to give everyone a reasonable sized section (normally 5 anglers). Anyone taking any of the Match positions will forfeit their section pools, thereby spreading the pools more widely. Assuming 30 anglers in 6 sections entering the pools, and further assuming 20 Advanced and 10 Intermediate/Novice Anglers payouts will be as in the table below, this will be adjusted if the split differs.
| Advanced | Intermediate / Novice | |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | £55 | £35 |
| 2nd | £30 | £15 |
| 3rd | £15 | |
| Total | £100 | £50 |
| Per Section | Total Paid | |
| Section 1st | £15 | £90 |
| Section 2nd | £10 | £60 |
